This season features a new fantasy provider, four new teams, and a few scoring tweaks that your irritatingly perfectionist Commish believes will make this the best season ever.

(Also debuting this year is #pigskin, a separate IRC channel of our own on Freenode, so it will be possible to set foot in #predicate on Sundays and have a conversation about something else. :)

Just a quick announcement to let everyone know that the new features are slowly trickling in. Creating "games" is a bit more powerful now, especially for the epics like Here I Stand and Predicate Fantasy Football. It's also easier to keep posts collected together, and you can join specific games if you're interested in tracking those posts specifically or receiving email announcements about what's going on.

User profiles have also been jazzed up a bit -- you can now add your own RSS feed manually, rather than pinging me on IRC to add it. Entering your Twitter username, or your delicious username and password, will also tell predicate to start sucking in your updates from those services for inclusion on your profile and in various nifty sitewide pages. Integrating with other services like that makes it a bit easier to keep things moving here without checking in every few hours.

Originally featured on Metafilter, this one's a winner. Use SQL queries to conquer other rows and boost your stats. The mechanics are a little flawed, encouraging hardcore turtling, but it's a nifty concept. More than anything, I'm testing out the new 'Game' content type.

MAKES: 8 appetizer or 4 main-course servings.

1/2 of a 15oz pkg folded refrig. pie crust (1 crust)
1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (6 oz, "low-moisture" mozzarella seems to work better if you can find it)
5 Roma or 4 Medium tomatoes
1 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves
4 cloves garlic
1/2 cup mayo or salad dressing
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
