Week 3 Recap
Posted by Ajax 14 weeks ago
Some inter-divisional play this week did good things for the Stabby Action division, which is no longer crowding the bottom of the standings. And the Your Mom division also had a good Week 3, with all three 1-1 teams grabbing a win. This puts 80% of their division into playoff contention -- if the season ended week 3, which it does not.
Caption This, however, continues its deadlock, with all five teams still ranked the same for the third straight week. A divisional win over squorch's team in Week 4 would do the Baystate Wicked Cheatahs a lot of good, as they have repeated their trick of scoring lots of points but still falling short of victory.
Now on to the couplets!
Despite crappy defense, Headbangers win:
Gore, White and Rodgers rescued them again.
Final Score: Headbangers 81.8 -- Defenestrators 67.1.
A bad day for Manning shook Fargo's tree,
Their rivals got 1 point from three RBs.
Final Score: Grim And Frostbitten 58.4 -- Arborists 57.3.
PF's oblivious; Edgewater rolls.
One of four teams sitting at 3-0.
Final Score: Fustigators 65.1 -- Iron Yuppies 32.9.
Good day for Portis, bad day for Big Ben.
Pantywaists grab The Belichick again.
Final Score: Nitehawkez 49.6 -- Pantywaists 75.4.
The Cheatahs can score, but can't get it done.
They're in every game, but haven't won one.
Final Score: Cheatahs 77.4 -- Rhyparographers 100.7.
Tastiks are out of the scrum in Your Mom;
Their odd pre-draft tactics seem to have bombed.
Final Score: Tastiks 33.1 -- Hooligans 106.6.
The Pirates struggled against a stiff Brees --
Should've used Orton and Janikowski.
Final Score: Pirates 57.8 -- Steamers 73.4.
Turner the Burner put paid to the Ghost
If points are your thing, Oak Ridge has the most.
Final Score: Trinities 101 -- Ghost Of Roger Staubach 32.
Cy gets a win, and it's only Week 3!
(He did play the team ranked last of 20.)
Final Score: Beefalo Balls 70.5 -- The Show 69.4.
The Pats got thumped, and who beat 'em? The 'Phins!
That team went three months last year with no wins!
It's looking like our next Game of the Week is going to feature two Chicago boys: KingDead and the Chicago Rhyparographers will defend their 1st-place standing in Caption This against wurd's Edgewater Fustigators. It's still early in the season, but as this is a divisional game and both teams are undefeated, there's quite a bit at stake -- the loser will also be knocked out of the running for the Silver Streak, at least temporarily.
Another interesting Week 4 matchup pits the Pacific Coast Pirates against The Pantywaists. Both teams are 2-1 and each coach has won The Belichick. In fact they are the only two who have, since mule became our first manager to claim the honor twice in a row in Weeks 2 and 3 -- Colin possesses the lesser distinction of having won both a Belichick (week 1) and a Prothro (this week).
Tune in next week for more Pigskin!
