Week 6 Recap
Posted by Ajax 11 weeks ago
EDIT: I apologize for omitting one of the games in the first draft. This has been remedied.
It was a weekend of surprises, both in the NFL and in Pigskin. The top three teams in the mighty NFC East lost out to lowly St. Louis, Cleveland, and (slightly less lowly) Arizona, although the last-place Eagles salvaged some pride by dropping 40 points on the 49ers.
Over in Pigskin, the undefeated Chicago Rhyparographers took their first loss at the hands of a 2-3 team, while The Wrong Petersons managed to score their second tie in two games, and now own the very strange record of 1-3-2. It won't be easy to make a playoff run from a 1-3-2 start, but hey -- at least it's not 1-5.
You came for the couplets, so without further ado...
Though Felix fell, Miah's team grabbed a win
Their first inside the Fried Soup division.
Final Score: Grim And Frostbitten 51.1 -- The Defenestrators 60.
Harrison may have caught only three balls,
But two were TDs, so Staubach's Ghost falls.
Final Score: Arcane Nitehawkez 77.4 -- Ghost Of Roger Staubach 49.2.
Undermanned Beefalo Balls stayed alive;
Notyou got stuck with a second straight tie.
Final Score: Beefalo Balls 46.9 -- The Wrong Petersons 46.9.
Forte, Buckhalter, Smith, Gates and Jackson
Defeated the champ of Stabby Action.
Final Score: Oak Ridge Trinities 70.5 -- Edgewater Fustigators 83.8.
Headbangers rolled for their sixth in a row:
They dropped a buck twenty-five on The Show.
Final Score: The Headbangers 126.9 -- Amherst The Show 79.5.
The Yuppies awoke from their five-week snooze
In time for the Wicked Cheatahs to lose.
Final Score: Baystate Wicked Cheatahs 41.6 -- The Iron Yuppies 46.9.
The stumbling Pirates have dropped two straight:
Orton's now starting, but is it too late?
Final Score: Pacific Coast Pirates 69.5 -- The Hooligans 90.5.
Three of mule's players scored 20+ points;
Army of Darkness scores nothing but joints.
Final Score: The Pantywaists 109.2 -- Army of Darkness 69.1.
The Steamers knocked KingDead's team off its streak;
But vengeance awaits if they win next week.
Final Score: Great Lakes Steamers 109.4 -- Chicago Rhyparographers 95.5.
Now we've saved the very best for last-iks:
Fargo was defeated by Los Tastiks.
Final Score: Fargo Arborists 39.5 -- Los Tastiks 59.9.
One undefeated team, one with no wins:
That's what's left through the first half of Pigskin.
We're spoiled for choice for Game of the Week going into Week 7. The next three weeks will feature mostly inter-divisional play, which means several strong teams that haven't seen much of each other will have a chance to go toe-to-toe.
One example is The Headbangers, whose six-game win streak is threatened by the Chicago Rhyparographers. The latter just had their own win streak snapped, so they'll be looking for revenge -- and the metalheads will be without their two best wide receivers.
Elsewhere, the 4-2 Oak Ridge Trinities will be without the services of QB Kurt Warner in their clash with the likewise 4-2 Pantywaists. And the Pacific Coast Pirates will get a chance to right the ship against the Ghost Of Roger Staubach: both teams are 3-3, third place in their division, and lost their last game, so the long knives are likely to come out early and often.
Tune in next week for more Pigskin!

Los Tastiks demand kudos!
Note the omission of Los Tastik's Victory over the Arborists. I knew the mainstream media couldn't handle my Tex-Alaskan brand of justice!
I was just building anticipation...yeah.
You're a maverick!
