Week 7 Recap
No team with a losing record has ever made the playoffs in the history of Pigskin, and the luckless Baystate Wicked Cheatahs guaranteed a losing season by dropping their seventh straight game. But on the bright side (if you can call it that) they have also made themselves prohibitive favorites to collect our Streak of Piss award. Since the Army of Darkness finally managed to collect win #2 this week, the second-longest losing streak in the league is now only two games, which would require one of those teams to fall off a cliff and the Cheatahs to win their next contest for them not to take the Piss.
On the other hand, the Beefalo Balls are having their best season in history. Not only have they beaten their inaugural record of 3-10 already, but they claimed first place in the Stabby Action division with their win this week -- the first time since Week 3 that a divisional crown has changed hands. The Oak Ridge Trinities are only half a game back, though, and with the return of RB Brian Westbrook to their arsenal, team BEEF will have a fight on their hands when the two clubs clash in a couple of weeks.
It's coupletin' time!
The Petersons' record looks pretty strange,
But it's been three weeks since they lost a game.
Final Score: Grim And Frostbitten 31.9 -- The Wrong Petersons 80.4.
After dropping two, the Pirates struck back
As two guys named Johnson picked up the slack.
Final Score: Pacific Coast Pirates 92.3 -- Ghost Of Roger Staubach 71.1.
Favre only scored three, but that was enough
Since most Fried Soup teams just aren't that tough.
Final Score: Arcane Nitehawkez 39.7 -- The Hooligans 76.1.
Things are starting to happen in Great Lakes.
They've handled the Cheatahs, and won two straight.
Final Score: Great Lakes Steamers 96.9 -- Baystate Wicked Cheatahs 43.4.
Army prevails, though hope's still decaying:
Last time they won, Tom Brady was playing.
Final Score: Los Tastiks 50.5 -- Army of Darkness 68.7.
The Trinities are a tale of two teams --
When Westbrook can't go, they tend to get creamed.
Final Score: The Pantywaists 74.9 -- Oak Ridge Trinities 51.2.
With Buffalo back, the Balls are all set.
This week they won by their best margin yet.
Final Score: Beefalo Balls 67.7 -- The Iron Yuppies 23.6.
Edgewater wins, claims their first Belichick
On the strength of Cassel, Morris, and Smith.
Final Score: The Defenestrators 72.4 -- Edgewater Fustigators 95.
Bryant and Daniels beat Fargo alone,
Since Manning has yet to get "in the zone."
Final Score: Fargo Arborists 35.7 -- Amherst The Show 82.8.
Headbangers would've won big, but for Moss.
It's been sixteen contests since their last loss.
Final Score: The Headbangers 61.9 -- Chicago Rhyparographers 57.6.
Eighty-nine points scored by Bears or by Vikes?
I have one word for those defenses: yikes.
Once again, we have several good choices for our next Game of the Week. But the best is probably the matchup of two division leaders, as the 4-3-1 Beefalo Balls of Stabby Action get to take on The Hooligans, who are 6-1 and have been in unquestioned command of Your Mom since Week 3. Both teams have hungry #2 contenders nipping at their heels; the Oak Ridge Trinities are only half a game back, and The Pantywaists (who have quietly won three straight contests) sit one game behind the Irish-men.
Tune in next week for more Pigskin!
