Bad Idea Dinosaur

Resplendentoops' gift for naming drinks came in very, very handy last night. After extensive field testing, six recipes rose to the top:

The Wallgreens

• 1oz Vodka
• 1oz Peppermint Schnapps
• 2oz Ginger Ale

Mix ingredients, garnish with a circus peanut, a candy orange slice, or a slice of summer sausage. Verdict: Smells like Wallgreens, tastes like Grandma.

The Gingerailgun

• 1oz Blueberry Vodka
• 1oz Red Bull energy drink
• 2oz Ginger Ale

Mix over ice. Imbibe. No sniping allowed. Verdict: Surprisingly good. Lacks something, but serviceable.

The Optimus Lime

• 1oz Absinthe
• 1-2oz lime juice
• 2oz Ginger Ale

Juice half of one lime, combine ingredients over ice, garnish with lime peel. Verdict: Hit or miss. The licorice zip of the absinthe gives way to the lime, and I thought it was great. Others weren't so sure.

The Skin Graft

• 1oz Cherry Brandy
• 1oz Lemoncello
• 2oz Club Soda

Layer one fruit roll-up in the base of a martini glass. Combine ingredients over fruit roll-up. When drink is finished, 'sluck' the fruit roll-up. Verdict: No.

The Bobcat Goldschlager

• 1oz Goldschlager
• 3oz Milk

Mix and serve on ice. Verdict: This was a surprise hit! It tasted like the holidays.

The Red Sonja

• 1oz Cherry Brandy
• 1oz Plata Tequila

Mix and sip, tentatively. Verdict: Appropriately named: Delicious but deadly.
