"Mom? It's Bruce. And I finally did it."
<byrne> The other day I put on Born to Run for the nib. It's one of his top 3 CDs; I worry that I'll burn myself out on it, he asks for it so much.
<stankow> The kid has good taste.
<byrne> And we were listening to 10th Ave. Freeze Out and I explained to him that it was about him, that he was the big man and he joined our little band.
<byrne> [I call him Big Man all the time.]
<stankow> Bwah.
<byrne> And he said, "When I get big and I am a big man and my name is Bruce, I..."
<byrne> And he could not be induced to finish the sentence, even though Osomatic and I were both dying to know what he would do when he was a big man and his name was Bruce.
<stankow> As am I, now.
<byrne> Right? But we'll never know.
<stankow> You never know. Maybe he realized as he was saying it that it was SO AWESOME that he better not tell anyone, even his parents.
<stankow> But he thinks about it all the time. And someday, after he's left the house and gone off into the world, he'll call you up and say, "Mom? It's Bruce. And I finally did it."
