71 chihuahuas and a lone papillon

published by verb on Fri, 08/19/2005 - 3:46pm

Never let it be said that the midwest is a boring place.

"There were piles and piles of dogs," said Laura Krauch, manger of the Heartland Animal Shelter in Northbrook.

Police said they had to knock down a bedroom door in the two-story town home to confront a woman who had locked herself in with some of the dogs.

Police said the woman lived in the home with her two adult children, all of them suspected of being involved in the puppy-selling business.
